Lunar Eclipse 2020 Canada and the United States
Most skywatchers in Canada and the United States will be treated to a full lunar eclipse on American Independence Day, before a full “buck moon” rises on late July 4 and early July 5.
The penumbral lunar eclipse will appear on the edge of the moon on Saturday night and Sunday morning as the shadow of the Earth. It will appear like a misty darkness on the part of the lunar face.
The eclipse will begin at 11:07 am. According to NASA estimates, EDT (8:07 p.m. PDT) Saturday night and lasted approximately 2 hours 45 minutes. This eclipse will reach at 12:31 pm EDT (9:31 PDT) on Sunday, when it will cover a third of the moon in the sky.
The entire Penumbral lunar eclipse will be visible in the Canadian and Ontario provinces of Ontario and for most Americans. Skywatchers in southern Manitoba and Saskatchewan will be able to see the beginning of the eclipse, but Canadians in the west will have to catch the eclipse in progress when the moon rises in their region.
