In a Facebook post, the Afghanistan Cricket Board said that their team was preparing for a series of one-day matches against Pakistan and would leave for Sri Lanka soon.

Afghanistan’s national cricketers have started training and practice at the Kabul Stadium ahead of three ODIs against Pakistan.
This is the first series with any Afghan team since the Taliban took over Kabul.

In August 2021, concerns were raised in regards to the series going on after Afghanistan was brought heavily influenced by the Taliban. At the hour of the hostile, Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi were both playing in The Hundred in England. However, the vast majority of different players were in Afghanistan, with endeavors being made concerning their whereabouts. Despite the disturbance in the country, the CEO of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), Hamid Shinwari, said that preparation would continue in Afghanistan and that game would proceed as before. Shinwari later expressed that that the ACB were focused on sending a group to Sri Lanka, and they would fly out when a flight was available.

Earlier on Tuesday, Afghanistan Cricket Board chief Hamid Shinwari said in a statement that “the Taliban love cricket and are supporting their team.”
He further said that the series of ODIs against Pakistan will be as per schedule.
Last week, a spokesman for the Afghan Taliban in Doha stated, that the Taliban had brought cricket to Afghanistan and that cricket would continue in his country.
“Cricket will continue and we will do whatever we can to improve cricket,” he said. When we were in power, we introduced cricket.

“I remember when I was in Islamabad, Zaeef and I went to watch a Test match. Cricket will continue. It was a good experience to watch the match. We were happy Our players played a match there, it was a great match. Although we did not succeed, they did. They worked hard and there was very little difference between the two teams.
The three-match ODI series between Pakistan and Afghanistan will be played in Sri Lanka in the first week of September, but no final dates have been announced.
