Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported on Friday that weekly inflation as measured by the Sensitive Price Index (SPI) for combined consumption groups increased by 0.67 percent during the week ended November 21.
According to PBS data, SPI for the said group for the week under review was recorded at 324.11 points as against 321.94 points last week.
Compared to the same week last year, the combined consumption group’s SPI saw an increase of 4.92% in the week under review.
Weekly SPI with base year 2015-16 = 100 covers 17 urban centers and 51 essential commodities for all expenditure groups.
The lowest consumption group’s SPI up to Rs 17,732 saw an increase of 0.91 per cent to 318.40 points from last week’s 315.52 points.
SPI for consumption groups of Rs 17,732 to Rs 22,888; 22,889-29,517 rupees; 29,518-44,175 and above Rs 44,175, rose 0.85 percent, 0.72 percent, 0.70 percent and 0.61 percent respectively.
During the week, out of 51 commodities, 17 (33.33%) commodities increased in price, 11 (21.57%) commodities decreased and 23 (45.10%) commodities remained stable.
The commodities which recorded a significant decline in average prices on weekly basis were Chicken (2.97%), Chickpea Dal (1.70%), LPG (0.80%), Dal Masoor (0.62%), Rice Basmati broken 0.40 %, sugar (0.27%), wheat flour (0.25%), dal mash (0.23%) and rice ary-6/9 (0.22%).
The commodities which recorded a significant increase in average prices on a weekly basis included ladies sandalwood (55.62%), tomato (20.72%), potato (3.81%), garlic (3.42%), eggs (3.16%), vegetables. are Ghee 1 kg (2.30%), vegetable ghee 2.5 kg (1.73%), mustard oil (1.28%), onion (0.98%) and kameez (0.04%).
Commodities that saw a year-on-year decline include wheat flour (35.49%), chili powder (20.00%), diesel (13.92%), petrol (11.64%), tea packets (11.07%), rice Basmati kiln included. (8.25%), dal masoor (7.21%), roti (5.99%), electricity Q1 (5.07%), sugar (3.67%) and cooking oil 5 liters (2.98%) charges.
The commodities which recorded an increase in average prices on a year-on-year basis include sandalwood (75.09%), chickpea dal (70.95%), moong dal (38.53%), milk powder (25.74%), beef ( 23.79%) included. %), gas charges for Onion (21.05%), Tomato (19.69%), Garlic (16.08%), Q1 (15.52%), Shirting (15.27%), Mutton (14.80%) and Georgette (13.07%).
