The Federal Cabinet has approved the release of Rs 41 crore funds to the Ministry of Home Affairs

Islamabad: The Federal Cabinet approved the release of special funds of Rs 41 crore on the recommendation of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Federal Cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, in which the members of the cabinet recited Fatiha for those martyred in the school bus shooting incident in Swat.

The Federal Cabinet approved the allotment of 23 kanals of land in Lahore for the Lahore Registry of the Supreme Court.

The Prime Minister established a committee under the chairmanship of Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, in which Commerce Minister Syed Naveed Qamar, Industry and Production Minister Syed Murtaza Mehmood, Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Law Minister Nazir Tarar, Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Climate Change Minister Sherry Rehman, Investment Board Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain will be present.

The committee will review the proposed plan and formulate short and long term strategies in this regard. It was decided in the meeting that public awareness regarding energy saving is very important and proper awareness campaign should be started in this regard.

The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Energy to give a detailed briefing next week regarding power theft, line losses and their remedies.

On the recommendation of the Ministry of Interior, the Federal Cabinet approved the extension of the validity period of family visit visa from one year to two years. On the recommendation of the Ministry of Interior, the Federal Cabinet also approved the issuance of a 30-day family visit category single entry visa.

The Prime Minister said that cheap electricity can be generated through the Tharkol project, in the past there was unnecessary delay regarding the Tharkol project which is no less than a national tragedy, the Tharkol project is now among our priorities.

He said that thanks to the thermal coal project, it will help to reduce the energy import bill of 24 billion dollars. An important review meeting regarding the thermal coal project will also be called next week.
