Sindh Cabinet approved Rs 23.559 billion subsidy on wheat

Karachi: The Sindh Cabinet has approved a subsidy of Rs 23.559 billion on wheat.

The Sindh Cabinet took some important decisions during the 4-hour long meeting, including subsidy of Rs 23.559 billion on wheat, acquisition of HESCO and SEPCO, ban on hunting of migratory birds, regularization of IBA pass teachers, 297 appointed in 2012. A draft agreement was approved for the recruitment of teachers and additionally with the federal government for the running of 3 health institutions in Karachi, JPMC, NICH, and NICVD initially for an extendable period of 25 years.

The meeting was held in the Chief Minister House under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, the sub-committee of the cabinet after full deliberation recommended to the cabinet to release Rs. 5825 per 100 kg of wheat 2022-23 with a subsidy of Rs. 22.79 billion. .

The Chief Minister directed the Food Department to prepare a foolproof strategy to ensure that the subsidy is passed on to genuine consumers and that the price of flour is kept between Rs 58 and Rs 65 per kg. Also decided to buy wheat for which 16.768 billion rupees was approved.

Energy Minister Imtiaz Shaikh told the meeting that the Privatization Commission had decided to hand over all the discos owned by the federal government to private sector management but ultimately decided to hand them over to the respective provincial governments.

Energy Minister informed the cabinet that HESCO and SEPCO will be the first discos in the country to be transferred to the provincial government, the cabinet decided to acquire HESCO and SEPCO and run them with the help of a professional private partner.

The Cabinet was informed that under the 18th Amendment, the Sindh Government took over the administrative control of the 3 transferred institutions, Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center (JPMC), National Institute of Child Health (NICH) and National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in July 2011. Under the draft agreement, all federal employees working at the hospital will continue to work.

The Sindh Cabinet approved the draft agreement and sent it to the federal government for final approval. During the calamities, the wildlife lost as much as human life.

The Chief Minister said that he is banning the hunting of native birds and migratory waterfowl for one year until the wildlife recovers from the trauma caused by natural calamities. Benazir Institute of Urology and Transplant (BIUT) Nawabshah 2022 for establishing an institute for providing urological and transplantation services to the people.

On the request of the Department of Universities and Boards, the Cabinet submitted a request to declare Karachi Medical and Dental College as an affiliated college and Abbasi Shaheed Hospital as a teaching hospital of Karachi Metropolitan University. The Karachi Metropolitan University Bill has already been sent to the Assembly, approved by the Law Department.

The Department of Universities and Boards requested the Cabinet to bring 27 colleges of Hyderabad district under the jurisdiction of GC University of Hyderabad. A committee headed by Murtaza Wahab was formed, the cabinet sent the draft bill to the assembly.
