Mumbai: Ritesh Deshmukh, who is famous for playing two different roles like comedian and villain in Bollywood films, has stepped into the world of directing.
Riteish Deshmukh says that he wanted to turn to film direction for a long time but was not getting the courage, but now he will direct a Marathi film ‘Ved’ for the first time in his Bollywood career.
Talking to the Indian media about the film, Ritesh said that ‘Marathi film will have to face a lot of competition in the state of Maharashtra as people’s first priority is Hindi film’.
Ritesh said, ‘The problem is how do we come from second or third priority to the level of equality. Maharashtra has a population of 12 crores and I believe around 10 crores are Marathi speakers’.
He said that some of the films that reached the mainstream included Sairat, Lai Bhari and Nat Samrat. But we need two such films every year’.
It may be recalled that Riteish recently made his debut in the world of digital streaming with his film ‘Plan A Plan B’.
Talking about his digital debut, Riteish said, “He was interested in the digital medium and ‘Plan A Plan B’ has fulfilled his dream”.
He said that there was a time when Corona was spreading everywhere and I was trying for digital medium but nothing happened at that time. I got an opportunity to do a romantic comedy after 10 years’.
