Lahore: Maturaka Waqf Amalak Board has started development of a mobile app to provide information about temples and gurdwaras across the country and provide guidance on their location. With the help of the mobile app, domestic and foreign tourists will be guided to reach and know about the holy places of Sikhs and Hindus.
The defunct Waqf Amalak Board, the supervisory body for religious places and properties of Sikhs and Hindus in Pakistan, has taken another important step in promoting religious tourism in the country. The board has started the development of a mobile app which will help to get information about important temples, gurdwaras of Sikhs and Hindus across the country.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Chairman Matruka Waqf Amalak Board Habibur Rahman Geelani said, “This app will contain information about all historical and ancient temples. It will provide images and authentic information about holy places of Sikhs and Hindus.” This app will also have the facility to guide any important historical and religious places within one to two kilometers of any sacred religious place. For this, a digital map will be available to reach these places. Apart from this, tour operators, accommodation and food near these places and guidance about transportation facilities will also be available.
Habib-ur-Rehman Gilani said that the use of digital platforms to attract and guide tourists is very important. In the second phase, 3D photos and videos of holy places of Sikhs and Hindus will also be shared in this mobile app, but for this we are currently looking for a sponsor and a company that can work in this regard.
Chairman Mutukah Waqf Property Board said that the aim of these measures is to promote religious tourism in Pakistan.
