Pakistan earned $116.115 million by exporting 54,539 metric tons of fish and fish products in the first four months of the fiscal year 2024-25, as reported by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
This represents a 6.33% decrease from the $123.965 million earned during the same period in FY 2023-24. Export volume of fish and fish products also declined marginally by 0.04 per cent to 54,562 metric tonnes in the previous fiscal year.
On a year-on-year basis, seafood exports increased by 12.78% in October 2024 to $46.009 million as against $40.797 million in October 2023. Export volume also saw a significant increase of 27.93%, which was 16,724 MT in October. 21,395 MT in October 2023 to 2024.
Month-on-month, seafood exports increased by 31.45% in October 2024, exceeding $35.000 million in September 2024. Similarly, export volume increased by 35.57%, from 15,781 MT in September to 21,395 MT in October 2024.
Notably, total food exports from Pakistan have increased by 21.73% during the first four months of the financial year 2024-25. According to PBS data, total food exports were valued at $2,365.114 million from July to October 2024-25, as against $1,942.915 million during the same period in 2023-24.
