Islamabad: In an important step towards advancing bilateral relations, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Alibek Bakayev, met Federal Secretary for Economic Affairs, Dr. Kazim Niaz on Wednesday.
The meeting emphasized the growing partnership between the two countries, with a focus on advancing cooperation through the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Joint Intergovernmental Commission (JIC). Both sides agreed to hold the 13th JIC meeting in Islamabad and Karachi in January 2025, a press release issued here said.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to give priority to the transport and communication sector. Mr. Bukayev said that Kazakhstan is keen to benefit from Pakistan’s extensive infrastructure network, including its ports and roads. The Secretary assured Kazakhstan of full cooperation in increasing connectivity under the upcoming JIC.
The two sides agreed to hold joint working group meetings on trade and investment, agriculture and ICT before the JIC meeting to ensure smooth decision-making during the high-level meeting.
The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to deepen bilateral relations. Both Secretary Dr. Kazim Niaz and Deputy Foreign Minister Bakayev expressed their determination to explore new areas of cooperation and further strengthen the strategic partnership between Pakistan and Kazakhstan.
