Federal Minister for Privatization, Board of Investment and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, during a meeting with the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, Mr. Khizr Farhadov, emphasized the need to take advantage of Pakistan’s significant opportunities for foreign investment.
According to a report of Pak Observer On Sunday, Pakistan and Azerbaijan agreed to strengthen joint projects and trade partnership, with practical steps to begin soon. During the meeting, Abdul Aleem Khan welcomed the ambassador and highlighted the possibilities of increasing bilateral cooperation in areas such as tourism, trade and infrastructure.
The minister stressed the importance of transforming mutual relations into solid business and trade projects, saying that progress was being made on both sides. He proposed government-to-government (G2G) and business-to-business (B2B) models while inviting Azerbaijani companies to invest in Pakistan.
Specific investment opportunities discussed include the M6 and M9 motorways connecting Karachi, Sukkur and Hyderabad. Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized on the vast opportunities for foreign investors in various sectors in Pakistan and stressed on making full use of these opportunities.
Ambassador Farhadov assured of his country’s determination to promote investment and joint ventures with Pakistan. Trilateral cooperation involving Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Turkey was also discussed in the meeting. To strengthen coordination, the Investment Board will designate a focal person to maintain close contact with the Government of Azerbaijan, as directed by Minister Alim Khan.
The talks followed recent positive developments in Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations, including high-level diplomatic exchanges and Pakistan’s active participation in the COP 29 conference in Baku.
