Wigan: A football championship match in Great Britain was delayed because the goalposts were not the same size.
According to media reports, before the match against Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium, Cardiff City’s coaching staff stated that one of the field goals was two inches larger than 8 feet.
The matter was raised by Cardiff’s care tech manager Mark Hodgson but after being told that research into the size of the goals could take up to two hours, they agreed to play after a seven-minute delay.
Cardiff won the match 1-3. The third goal by the winning team was scored on the side that was reportedly bigger in size.
Mark Hodgson said that two players thought there was a problem with the size of the goal. One of the two rounds is a couple of inches higher.
“We raised the issue immediately and then they had to re-measure the goal with the Hawkeye system. We were told that it could take two hours to lower the goal by two inches,” he said. We decided to continue the game as it was a situation for both teams.
