Karachi ranked first in the list of polluted cities

Karachi: The city topped the list of the most polluted cities on Tuesday due to the blockade of sea breezes and the desert winds of Balochistan.

According to Air Quality Index, due to short-term cessation of south-westerly winds from the sea and the effects of hot desert winds from Balochistan, Karachi was ranked first and Lahore second in the list of polluted cities on Tuesday.

According to the report, the amount of polluted particles in the atmosphere of Karachi was recorded at 214 particulate meters, which is considered extremely harmful to health, Lahore was declared the most polluted city in the world with 168 particulate meters.

According to the classification of air quality index, pollution from 151 to 200 level is harmful to health, pollution from 201 to 300 level is extremely harmful to health, and more than 301 level indicates dangerous pollution.

According to the Department of Meteorology, the visibility of Karachi was reduced from 6 km to 3 km on Tuesday. According to experts, the sea breeze also acts as a filter to keep the weather moderate.
