Social media app Tik Tok has introduced a new feature under which Tik Tok users will now be able to use the dislike button on comments.
According to media reports, the video will now feature a dislike button along with a like button.
According to the company, this new feature of Tik Tok was introduced as a trial in April this year and will now be available to all users worldwide.
According to TikTok, only the person who disliked will be able to see their name in the dislike while other users will not know who has used the dislike button.
However, unlike the number of likes a comment receives, the number of dislikes will not be visible to users.
Dislike comments is a new way to get feedback from users, TikTok says, adding that the feature will flag comments that are inappropriate.
Apart from disliking comments, users also have the option to report controversial comments for violating TikTok rules.
Note that other platforms, such as the online platform Reddit, have long had the option of upvoting user comments, a public mechanism for social media users to voice disagreements.
Recently, Twitter has tested a feature similar to TikTok’s new feature so that the platform can reflect what users think about the new feature.
