The first humanitarian aid flight for flood-affected Pakistanis has arrived from Russia. Earlier, Prime Minister Shevas Sharif met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at his SCO summit. The Kremlin sent flood relief supplies days after the Pakistani Prime Minister’s visit.

First flight from Russia with flood relief goods lands in Pakistan
Flood relief supplies include flood items, tents, and water purification equipment. Fedorov Andrei, Consul General of Russia in Karachi, Advisor to the Chief Minister for Relief and Rehabilitation Rasor Buksu Candio, representatives of the NDMA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs accepted the flight. Pakistan received over 100 flood relief flights, including 55 from the United Arab Emirates. Foreign countries also joined Pakistan’s flood response as the death toll from the deluge surpassed her 1,500. Hundreds of thousands of people displaced by the floods are now living outdoors. Most of the homeless now live in tents on the banks of flooded canals and rivers. The flood water they can drink is polluted.
Russia ready to supply wheat as food shortage worsen
German Defense Minister Khawadja Asif has announced that in addition to gas, Russia is ready to provide wheat to Pakistan as devastating floods are expected to cause food shortages in the country.
