CMA Awards 2024 : George Strait honored with CMA Lifetime Achievement Award
Iconic American singer-songwriter George Strait receives the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award during the 58th Annual Country Music Association CMA Awards 2024 at Bridgestone Arena on November 20, 2024 in Nashville.
While accepting the award, the singer paid tribute to his wife Norma Street. Singers Chris Stapleton, Miranda Lambert, Parker McCollum, and Jamie Johnson performed in tribute to George Music’s legacy.
The performance for George Strait began when CMA Awards 2024 co-host Lenny Wilson began singing “Amarillo by Morning,” one of his 1983 hits.
After his performance, Jamie Johnson proceeded to perform Street’s 2006 single “Give It Away”, a hot country No. 1 hit Jamie co-wrote with Street.
Miranda Lambert and Parker McCollum sang Street’s 2008 single “Troubadour”.
He also praised the artistes who performed their songs during the event. “It’s wonderful to hear you all sing them – I’m glad I got to them before you,” he laughed, “not you, Jamie.”
