London: The British artist has consciously burned more than 1,000 of his paintings and will burn another 3,000 by the end of the month.
Will offer fire.
Last week, 57-year-old Damien Hirst’s art gallery was billowing out of smoke as he quickly set fire to his painting of colorful circles and didn’t stop until 1,000 images were reduced to ashes. Now they will burn more photos numbering in thousands.
The entire scene was recorded by a cameraman and images of the six volcanoes burning were streaming online. It was streamed live on Instagram and other platforms.

Six years ago, Damian started a painting project called ‘The Currency’, in which he created 10,000 images of colorful circular coordinates. Now they wanted all the masterpieces to be stored in one place and NFT of all to be made.
However, they later asked their users if they wanted digital tokens of the actual painting or if they wanted to see it burn in a fire. In response, 4,851 users asked to burn the paintings, and this Tuesday they burned their first hundreds of photos.
Damian said that it is not a gamble and it is not a fool’s errand because in today’s age, art remains valuable whether it is real or digital. In this way, there will be no loss, but after burning, they will be transferred to digital NFTs, which can be sold later.
Starting in 2016, each of the thousands of photographs bears Damien’s signature. Interestingly, despite being identical, no two of their images are alike and each token is priced at $2,000.
So far, the value of one of his NFTs has reached 250,000 dollars, and after burning, the value of NFTs can be up to 10 times more, while Damian now plans to burn thousands more paintings.
