After successful negotiations with primary school teachers in Peshawar, primary schools opened as usual after five days of continuous closure.
According to Express News, the protest sit-in by the teachers of primary schools in Peshawar for increase in grade (promotion) has ended after successful negotiations and all primary schools have opened.
All male primary schools were also closed as a protest against the October 6 sit-in by the primary Asatza, in which the teaching process resumed last night after 3 hours of talks between the provincial government and the teachers.
The provincial government has accepted the demands of the teachers in principle and has promised that recommendations for the upgradation of primary teachers will be submitted to the cabinet within a month.
Azizullah, the provincial president of the primary teachers, has approved the written agreement with the provincial government and today the provincial president and other officials will receive the written agreement from the education department.
It should be noted that the teachers have demanded that the basic recruitment of primary teachers should be done in grades 12 to 15 and if the education of the headmaster is master’s degree or PhD, he should be given grade 17.
The teachers have demanded that all the primary teachers who are in 12th and 14th scale should be promoted to 15th and senior to 16th grade and the recent pension reforms should be withdrawn as those reforms are job-killing.
