Petrol shortages in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad may be affected amid ongoing PTI protests, which have seen casualties in violent incidents.
Pak Observer reported on Tuesday that road closures and PTI protests in the twin cities could lead to shortage of petrol and other petroleum products, further worsening the law and order situation in the federal capital.
The report also suggested that the shortage of petrol could extend to Lahore, prompting the Ministry of Petroleum to issue an urgent letter to the Chief Secretary of Punjab to address the shortage of petroleum in the affected cities. He called for immediate action.
The ministry’s letter emphasized that the Punjab government should take immediate steps to ensure the supply of crude oil from the Attock Oil Refinery as both the supply of crude oil to the refinery and the distribution of petroleum products from the facility have already been affected. are
Officials fear that if the problem is not resolved soon, there could be a shortage of petroleum products. The letter also highlighted that the supply of petroleum products to Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore has been stopped due to road closures.
Meanwhile, fuel tankers are stranded on various highways due to blockade, making the situation worse. The ministry has called for a comprehensive plan to address the issue and ensure uninterrupted supply of petroleum products to the public.
