Discos reduce losses by 22% in Q1 FY2024-25, recovery rate improves  

The Power Division has reported a 22 per cent reduction in losses of electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) during the first quarter (July-September) of the current financial year 2024-25, improving operational efficiency.

According to the division, the discos faced a loss of Rs 591 billion during the financial year 2023-24 due to line losses and low recovery. However, these losses narrowed to Rs 239 billion in the first quarter of FY 2024-25, showing an improvement of Rs 69 billion compared to Rs 308 billion in the same period last year.

The recovery rate for discos also increased significantly, reaching 91% in the first quarter from 84% in the same period last year.

Additionally, revolving credit increased by just Rs 11 billion between July and October of FY 2024-25, a sharp increase from Rs 301 billion recorded during the same period last year, according to the Power Division. There is a shortage.

The figures reflect ongoing efforts to address inefficiencies and improve financial efficiency in the energy sector.
